Not knowing how long the auto transmission fluid had been in service in my 1999 Land Rover Discovery 2  TD5, I decided to change it for some fresh fluid.  Removal of the sump simply required the removal of the bolts around the edge of the sump.  It is a good idea to check that the filler plug on the side of the sump can be removed before emptying out the the old fluid.

The old filter was then removed and the new one fitted using new O rings for the joints to the valve block and the oil pick up.  The last photo shows the sump after cleaning.  Note the magnet is not in the correct position in this photo.
